John Henry Walling served in the Union Army. John H. Walling filed for an US Army pension in 1875. He served in Company C of the Union 1^st Alabama Calvary and the Union 1^st Kentucky. He can be found on the 1^st Alabama roll, but not the Kentucky roll. He became a prominent doctor in Cullman and Morgan County after the war.

He was elected Colonel of the 39^th on March 2, 1862. It is reported that he died of his wounds on December 1, 1863. I think this man may served in Company K of the 8^th Florida Infantry. Company K was made up of men from Hillsborough County.  Polk County was formed from Hillsborough and Brevard. William Willingham enlisted in the CSA at Fort Brook near Tampa in 1862. He was wounded at Gettysburg and remained absent without leave.

On February 2, 1864 a twenty-seven year old William R Garrett volunteered his services as a blacksmith to the US Army in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  He was assigned to Company H of the 12^th Tennessee Calvary of the US Army.  He served as company blacksmith and farrier. There is also a U.S. Army pension record for a William R. Garrett  of Company H 12^th Tennessee Calvary that died December 4, 1926.

Lieutenant Brindley was a member of Company B of Russell’s 4^th Alabama Calvary. He was captured at Shelbyville Tennessee on June 27, `863. He was sent to Nashville, Louisville, Kentucky, Johnson Island, and Pt. Lookout, Maryland as a prisoner of war. On March 10, 1864 he was exchanged and then there was not another record.
