Private Lambert enlisted at Camp McDonald on March 10, 1862. He was captured at Vicksburg when left at a hospital. There are no Lamberts on the role of Company B of the 55th Alabama. However the next three Lamberts in Company B of the 55th Alabama do appear on the rolls of Company B 5th Alabama Battalion.  Seth Lambert does not show up on any 5th Alabama Battalion roll. This company was raised in Calhoun County, Alabama.

They will be recorded with the inscription on the stones in Hebron Cemetery.

Private Lambert enlisted in Captain Bush’s Calhoun County (Alabama) Sharpshooters on August 19, 1861.  This would become Company B of the 5th Alabama Infantry Battalion.
He appears as missing in action muster rolls after Gettysburg. Union records indicate that he was captured at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. He is detained at Fort McHenry, Maryland and eventually sent to Fort Delaware.  He died of chronic diarrhea only October 6, 1863. William F Lambert appears in Company B of the 5th Alabama Battalion. He enlisted in Captain Bush’s Calhoun Sharpshooters at age 25 in 1862.  In June he was reported sick in a Richmond, Virginia hospital. He died of disease on September 10, 1862 in a hospital in Liberty, Virginian. Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Alabama.
