Rueben was born in Murray County, Georgia on Jun 10, 1842. He died in Whitfield County, Georgia on April 16 1903. He is buried in Swamp Creek Cemetery Carbondale, Whitfield County, Georgia (Blogged 9/12/2010).

He enlisted at Camp Moore, Louisiana on August 13, 1861. His military records indicate service until 1864. He was severely wounded by a shell during the Battle of Decatur on October 20, 1864. The wounds resulted in both legs being amputated between the knee and hip.

  • Corporeal Beckham was a six foot stall eventeen year old that enlisted in May 1864 in Atlanta.
