Enlisted in in Company F of the artillery battalion Wetumpka, Alabama  in 1861. Throughout the war he served in Company F and A. In April of 1864 the 1st Battalion of Artillery was stationed at Fort Morgan. On August 23, 1864 he was  captured  at Fort Morgan. He was sent to New Orleans where he spent time in hospital with dysentery before being and then to Elmira, New York as a prisoner of war. He died of pneumonia on November 10, 1864 and was buried in Grave 811. The marker at Socopatoy is a cenotaph. He is still buried in New York.

Sylvester was a member of Company C of the 58^th Alabama Infantry. He was wounded severely in the abdomen at the Battle of Chickamauga. He apparently lived several days before death. There is no Confederate cemetery on the battlefield at Chickamauga. As he died two weeks after the battle he is likely buried near a hospital in the area. It is possible that he in an unmarked grave in the Marietta Confederate Cemetery.  According to Jim  a Chickamauga National Military Park historian after the war the Ladies Memorial Association of Marietta had the Confederate bodied removed from the battlefield and other areas to the new Marietta Cemetery.

William Crabb Edwards is harder to pin down. I have found one record that indicates that he served in Ragland’s Company G of the 17^th Alabama.  This has not been confirmed.

Rock Island, Ill.

He was captured at Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863. He was transferred to Louisville, Kentucky and then to Rock Island Barracks in Illinois. Here he took the oath of allegiance to the United States in 1864.  Cemetery records indicate that he died in 1888.
