An Adam Farmer, a 24 year old from Blount County, Tennessee enlisted in Company A of the 3rd East Tennessee Calvary on August 2, 1862. This Calvary unit was in the Federal Army. Farmer was captured a Sulphur Branch Trestle in Alabama on September 25, 1864.  He was paroled at Vicksburg on April 21, 1865. He is listed as perished in the Sultana explosion on April 27, 1865. - Compiled Service Records of Union Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Tennessee.
