His last words was
Tell mother I did my duty and died for my country

Samuel’s mother was Almira Cole Feagin, wife of James Madison Feagin.  Samuel enlisted July 3, 1861 in Captain Isaac B. Feagin’s company. This was his uncle Isaac Bell Feagin’s company. At Cold Harbor the regiment lost 34 out of 412 men. However, this battle occurred on June 3rd when Grant attacked Confederates west of the Old Cold Harbor crossroads.  Samuel's records show the July 3 wounding and July15th death.
