Served in Company K, 53rd Georgia Infantry. He was wounded at the Battle of Sharpesburg. He would return to duty and serve until being captured at the end of the war.

The tombstone at this cemetery is a cenotaph. Private Evans was wounded in the arm at the Battle of Cold Harbor on June 1, 1864. On June 3rd he arrived at Wayside Hospital in Richmond, Virginia where doctors amputated his arm. The arm became “mortified” and he died on June 23 in the Infirmary of St. Francis de Sales. He was buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.

Henry was wounded at Chancellorsville on May 2, 1863. A ball entered the middle third of his leg causing a compound fracture. On May 3rd doctors amputated the leg by circulated operation.

  • Corporeal Beckham was a six foot stall eventeen year old that enlisted in May 1864 in Atlanta.
