Duncan enlisted  in Captains Dew's Company in September of 1861 in Bloiuntsville, Alabama. This company became Company B of the 29th Alabama Infantry. Between 1862 and April of 1864 the saw duty in in the panhandle of Florida and in Mobile. In April the 29th joined the Army of Tennessee in Resaca, Georgia and took part in the Atlanta Campaign. The 29th took heavy losses at Resaca, Kennasaw, and while in the line around Atlanta. He died on August 22, 1864. There is no record of the cause of his death.

Thomas enlisted at Mt. Pinson in 1861. He was captured at Chicamauga in 1863 and sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois. In March of 1865 he was forwarded to City Point, Virginia on March 14, 1865 for exchange. He was admitted to a hospital at Camp Lee in Richmond after being exchanged. Family trees put his place of death as Blountsville.

Graves, William, (Captain), born 10 Mar 1818 near Blountsville; served Captain of Grave's Company of Alabama Cavalry. Entered the army in 1862 at Blountsville in the Barbierie Battalion. Just after the surrender, he was shot and killed by "Tories" of Blount County 3 May 1865 and was buried in the First Methodist Church Cemetery at Blountsville. William married Martha Pullen 27 Nov 1839, Blount County Children included: Milton T., Nancy, Marcus D.L., Mary J., Monroe, Susan, Lena, and William D. Graves.

Moses Fletcher Gosa

Moses entered into the service of the 4th Alabama Calvary in Chickasaw, Alabama in 1862. This was likely Roddy's or Russell's Calvary. In the fall he was captured at Holly Springs. At some point he was paroled and in March of 1863 he re-listed in the 4th Mississippi Calvary. He was captured and paroled in Selma in 1865. 


His Find a Grave memorial states:


Moses applied for a Civil War - Union pension and was denied same as no such unit existed.Moses later applied for a Civil War - Confederate pension and was accepted on statements from others - there is no record of him serving in the Confederate Army.

William H. Branch (1837-1865)


William was a child of Charity Hagen and David Branch. He served in Company A of Phillips Legion. He was wounded at Antietam and lost his right arm below the elbow. William's grave is marked by a concrete/cement tombstone that is highly weathered and hard to read.

Young W. Longshore mustered into service in Buchanan in Harrison County, Georgia on August 12, 1861. On December 21, 1861 he died in Fredricksburg, Virginia. Cause of his death could not be determined. This marker may be a cenotaph. In 2014 a research erect a Find a Grave memorial to Longshore the Barton Street Cemetery in Fredericksburg. However, his name is not on the plaque dedicated to 51 Confederate buried October of 1861 and March of 1862. Four men of the 35th Georgia are named on the plaque.
