I have been visiting cemeteries and locating the graves of Confederate soldiers most of my life. Since 2009 I have specifically cataloged Confederate soldiers that were marked as such in cemeteries I visit. I also record veterans from other wars and tombstones that really interest me. June 2021: I would love to know who visits this page and what did you think about the work. Please leave a comment or drop me a quick note (greg_green@bellsouth.net)

Young W. Longshore mustered into service in Buchanan in Harrison County, Georgia on August 12, 1861. On December 21, 1861 he died in Fredricksburg, Virginia. Cause of his death could not be determined. This marker may be a cenotaph. In 2014 a research erect a Find a Grave memorial to Longshore the Barton Street Cemetery in Fredericksburg. However, his name is not on the plaque dedicated to 51 Confederate buried October of 1861 and March of 1862. Four men of the 35th Georgia are named on the plaque.

The tombstone at this cemetery is a cenotaph. Private Evans was wounded in the arm at the Battle of Cold Harbor on June 1, 1864. On June 3rd he arrived at Wayside Hospital in Richmond, Virginia where doctors amputated his arm. The arm became “mortified” and he died on June 23 in the Infirmary of St. Francis de Sales. He was buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.
