This is a survey of Dogwood Valley Cemetery in Catoosa County using the Find A Grave memorial page for the cemetery. The cemetery page contains 862 memorials and 90 % have been photographed.  I think I visited this cemetery many years ago and left without finding any Confederate solider markers.

William R Russell enlisted at Whitfield County, Georgia March1 19, 1862 in Company I of the 36th Georgia Volunteer Regiment. He rose in the ranks to 1st Lieutenant and was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863. He was paroled and returned to duty. During the Atlanta Campaign he was accounted for as being in a hospital near Lovejoy Station.

Hud York, Larkin York, and Jasper York were the sons of Josiah Cowan York & Sarah Virginia Blake. They enlisted in Company A of the 1st Georgia Calvary which was commanded by their brother William Thomas York. William was killed at Battle of Peachtree Creek in 1864.

Albert enlisted in western Tennessee in 1864. In October of 1864 a calvary skirmish occurred near the hamlet of Van Wert in Polk County, Georgia. Albert was in the line of battle and was killed near the church and was buried in the cemetery.

This is a survey of Fraternal Cemetery in Pratt City using the Find A Grave memorial page for the cemetery. The cemetery page contains 2950 memorials and 55 % have been photographed. 

Description of Cemetery: At the beginning of the 20th century, the Greenwood Cemetery, formerly known as the Sam Foley Cemetery, adjoined the Pratt Mines Cemetery which was also called the United Mine Workers Cemetery. The combined cemeteries are now known as the Fraternal Cemetery, which is owned by the Fraternal Order of Pratt City. The newer section, originally called the Pratt Mines Cemetery, includes about 13 acres. The older section, known as the Greenwood Cemetery, covers about 1.5 acres and includes about 200 graves on the southwest corner of the lot. The Greenwood Cemetery is in the thick woods to the left of the main entrance. These cemeteries include the graves of English, Scottish, and German immigrants who worked in the Pratt coal mines and other early 20th century industrial operations in this area. (Find A Grave)

Captain Jack Dick Bushong enlisted as a private in Company I at Henderson’s on August 21, 1861. He would serve as Captain served as Captain of Company I in the 29th Tennessee Infantry. He was severely wounded at Stone River and again twice during the 1864 battles around Atlanta. He was killed in 1865 in Greene County at Lost Mountain. Fredrick Washington Cobble was marked by a Confederate flag. Cobble enlisted in Captain J.W. Jackson’s Greene company on October 4, 1862. This company eventually became Company C of the 61st Tennessee Mounted Infantry. In March of 1863 he was appointed 2nd Sergeant. On May 17, 1863 he was captured at Big Black Swamp during the Vicksburg Siege. He was sent to Fort Delaware where he would be paroled and exchanged.

George enlisted in Company C of the 61st Tennessee Mounted Infantry. In May of 1863 he was captured at Big Black Swamp and apparently sent north as a POW. In the summer he enlisted in Company A of the Union 8th Tennessee Cavalry in Indianapolis for three years. He served in several hospitals as a cook until the end of the war.
