Pvt George was from Tuscaloosa County. He joined the 38th in November 1861. He was wounded in the battles around Atlanta on July 22, 1816. The wound was describe as being in the upper part of the middle 3d of left fore arm. He was sent south to the Ocmulgee Hospital in Macon, Georgia. In September he appears as a patent in the General Hospital in Marion, Alabama.
