This is not a VA Confederate tombstone. Ignatious Sims was a member of Company G of the 42nd Alabama Infantry. He was captured and paroled twice during the war. Likely at Corinth and at Vicksburg. He served to the end of the war.

James B. Henderson - CSA Flag

1829-1898


Henderson was a member of Company D of the 10th Alabama Infantry. He enlisted in 1861 and was elected 2nd lieutenant. Over the course of the war he spent several stretches of time sick in hospitals. He also was detailed as a hospital steward in Richmond at one time. He was palled as a private in Virginia in 1865.

He was captured at Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863. He was transferred to Louisville, Kentucky and then to Rock Island Barracks in Illinois. Here he took the oath of allegiance to the United States in 1864.  Cemetery records indicate that he died in 1888.
