July 18, 1863 for 40 days; m. Sara Elizabeth Smith while at home on furlough; shot through the right lung by a shell fragment May 8, 1864 at Spotsylvania CH; adm. to Jackson Hosp. March 3, 1865 with v.s. breast min. B.; furl. March 9, 1865 for 60 days; lived in Oconee Co., GA in 1890; received a pension in Oconee Co. in 1896; d. May 19, 1920; buried in the Winder Chapel Christian Ch. Cem., Barrow Co., GA.

A Confederate Soldier

John Milton McCune was living in Dalton, Georgia in 1860. He enlisted in the May of 1862 in Avery’s Battalion of Georgia Dragoons. His company became Company E of the 12th Georgia Calvary. He served as a teamster.
