The NARA cards for Sergeant Ross are very hard to read. He enlisted September 18, 1861. He died in Atlanta, Georgia. His father filed for his effects in early 1865. An entry for him in the U.S., Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, 1861-1865, states that he was wounded in the chin at Chickamauga, mustered out of the service on August 1, 1864 due to death.
