I think this man may served in Company K of the 8^th Florida Infantry. Company K was made up of men from Hillsborough County.  Polk County was formed from Hillsborough and Brevard. William Willingham enlisted in the CSA at Fort Brook near Tampa in 1862. He was wounded at Gettysburg and remained absent without leave.

On February 2, 1864 a twenty-seven year old William R Garrett volunteered his services as a blacksmith to the US Army in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  He was assigned to Company H of the 12^th Tennessee Calvary of the US Army.  He served as company blacksmith and farrier. There is also a U.S. Army pension record for a William R. Garrett  of Company H 12^th Tennessee Calvary that died December 4, 1926.
